Choosing a Standup Bag Fill Seal Machine

When looking to add a standup bag fill seal machine to your packaging line, there are many options on the market. There are horizontal form-fill-seal machines (HFFS) that can seal a variety of pouch types and sizes, and vertical fill and seal machines that can handle larger volumes at faster speeds. Each type of machine has its advantages and benefits based on your product, production line, and ideal run speed.

To get started, it's important to speak with a packaging expert that can listen to your needs and help you determine the right equipment for your facility. The most critical factor in selecting the best machine is the ability to accurately measure your ideal pouch size, style and fill weights. After that, the next step is to consider what extra features would be beneficial for your business.

Our team of Packaging experts is here to guide you through your options and recommend the machine that's perfect for you! Contact us today to speak with a packaging specialist.

Using a hot seal bar that applies heat and pressure, a standup bag fill seal machine forms a three-sided or four-sided bag with a zipper or seal lip. The sealant melts and adheres to the edges of the pouch to create a watertight, airtight and tamper-proof container that protects products from contamination and spoilage.

These machines use a servo system to control the forming, filling and sealing operations, enabling them to operate at higher speeds with greater accuracy than other types of packaging machines. This increased accuracy results in lower waste and a more consistent, attractive product. It also allows for precise dosing of dry or liquid products and more accurate labeling.

The A/3200 vertical form/fill/seal machine can package pillow, gusseted or Doy-style standup bags and flat bottom bags, as well as hole-punch bags. It works with a wide range of supported and unsupported film stocks and can produce bags up to 12" x 20" in size. Its seven-inch color touchscreen HMI allows for 50 stored routines and tool-less changeovers.

This type of machine can be equipped with a number of optional components that can increase production and efficiency. For example, a gas flush or modified atmosphere packaging process is used to displace oxygen in the bag prior to sealing. This helps prevent oxidation and preserves freshness. Other optional features include a settler, which gently shakes the bag to encourage solid components to the bottom of the premade pouch. A second liquid seal station is available for products that require a mixture of liquid and powdered ingredients.

To ensure the highest quality, our team of packaging specialists tests each piece of equipment. We use a range of food products, including chicken, avocados, and cereal to assess how each machine performs. We then compare these results to the specifications of the equipment in order to provide our customers with an accurate comparison. Our goal is to match each customer with the machine that best meets their business's specific needs.
